On Wednesday my friend Dovanna invited me for on opening at Jan Krugier Gallery on Upper East Side.
Jan Krugier, renowned Polish art dealer, died two months ago and that exhibition ('Tension, Invention, Intoxication, Liberty - Victor Hugo to Martin Ramirez') is dedicated to his memory.
It was the first time I met Dovanna's daugter - Kamila. After I took my coast off, they both started laughing, because it turned out, that CDG Play's logo on the cardigan that I was wearing was designed by Kamila's dad, famoust Polish graphic designer,
Filip Pagowski.
Anyway, it wasn't the Picasso's vases or Victor Hugo sketches that were the center of attention that night, but that little heart designed by Mr. Pagowski. All the older ladies at the opening wanted to know the story behind that logo, and of course, where you can get Comme des Garcons in NYC.
After the opening I joined Dovanna for a loft party in East Williamsburg. I've never been to that neighborhood before and I have to say, I was little worried at first, because the whole area really looks deserted, but inside of those old factory buildings there are the most amazing lofts I've ever seen.
And, of course, hanging out with
Dovanna is always fun. She used to be a supermodel in the eighties, and she is one of the most interesting and fun people I've ever met. She told me the story about Naomi Cambell starting her career as her assistant, she got photographed by Robert Mapplethorphe and she is super fabulous. Thanks for a great night Dovanna!!!
